To ensure a safe, professional, and trustworthy experience for everyone, all users - both Movers and Customers - are required to follow these guidelines. By using MoveKot, you agree to comply with these standards, as well as New Zealand laws governing transport and consumer protection.
- Mover Requirements and Responsibilities
Legal Compliance
  • A Valid New Zealand Business Number (NZBN) is required.
  • Comply with NZ transport and road safety regulations.
  • Insurance requirements:
    • Vehicle insurance
    • Public liability insurance
    • Transit/goods-in-transit insurance (recommended)
Service Standards
  • Accurate quotes with no hidden charges.
  • Be punctual, professional, and reliable.
  • Careful handling of goods — movers are responsible for damages.
  • Communicate proactively about delays or changes.
Communication and Conduct
  • Use MoveKot platform for communication until the quote is accepted.
  • No sharing of personal contact details pre-quote acceptance.
  • No solicitation or false information.
  • Respect customer privacy; contact only for job-related matters.
Dispute Resolution
  • Attempt to resolve issues professionally.
  • MoveKot may mediate but holds no legal responsibility.
  • Repeated complaints or unprofessional conduct may lead to suspension.
Reviews and Ratings
  • Performance affects visibility on the platform.
  • No pressuring for reviews or offering incentives.
Prohibited Activities
  • No subcontracting without consent.
  • No transporting illegal substances or prohibited items under New Zealand law.
  • No abusive, threatening, or discriminatory behaviour.
Legal Obligations
  • Comply with the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986.
  • Provide services with reasonable care and skill.
  • Complete services on time and at a reasonable cost if not pre-agreed.

Providing Accurate Information
  • Provide accurate move details, including inventory and access issues.
  • Notify movers of any changes promptly.
Choosing a Mover
  • Review quotes, ratings, and profiles carefully.
  • Don't base your decision solely on the cheapest quote.
Communication Etiquette
  • Use MoveKot for all communication before accepting a quote.
  • Respectful and professional communication is expected.
Booking and Moving Day Responsibilities
  • Be available on the agreed date/time.
  • Inform your mover early if rescheduling or cancelling.
  • Have your items packed unless you arranged for packing services.
Payment and Transactions
  • Confirm payment method and amount beforehand.
  • Never pay outside of agreed secure methods.
  • Ask for receipts or payment confirmation if needed.
Respect for Movers
  • Be cooperative and respectful.
  • Ensure safe and clear access.
Reviews
  • Leave an honest review after your move.
Dispute Handling
  • Try to resolve issues directly with your mover.
  • MoveKot can mediate, but is not liable for agreements or payments.
Your Rights
  • Protected under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986.
  • Services must be delivered with care, on time, and at fair prices.
